The Secretary-General met today with H. E. Mr. Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia.
The Secretary-General thanked Cambodia for its contributions to UN peace operations and presented his condolences on the recent loss of four Cambodian peacekeepers serving in the Central African Republic. They discussed future cooperation in UN peacekeeping.
The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister also exchanged views on developments in Cambodia and the Secretary-General expressed expectation that necessary conditions will be in place for free and democratic parliamentary elections in 2018.
The Secretary-General offered to enhance support of UN Agencies to implement Cambodia’s National Development Plan and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister also touched upon issues relating to the support for the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia and clearance of unexploded ordnance in the country.
