Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.M. ‘Aho‘eitu Tupou VI, King of the Kingdom of Tonga

The Secretary-General met today with H.M. ‘Aho‘eitu Tupou VI, King of the Kingdom of Tonga.
 
The Secretary-General discussed the latest political developments in Tonga. He also appreciated the important work being done by Ms. Fekitamoeloa K’Utoikamanu, the High Representative of the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (OHRLLS).
 
The Secretary-General also commended Tonga’s national environmental policies giving priority to renewable energy and energy efficiency and assured the UN system’s commitment to supporting SDG localization efforts. They also exchanged views on climate change.
