The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Charles Flanagan, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland.
The Secretary-General and Mr. Flanagan discussed the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Secretary-General commended Ireland for its leadership in the Agenda’s negotiation and implementation process. He also expressed appreciation to Ireland for its generous support to many least developed countries.
The Secretary-General thanked Ireland for its support for United Nations peace operations, including the country's contributions to United Nations missions in many countries, particularly in Lebanon.
