The Secretary-General met today with H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, in the margins of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. He thanked the UAE for hosting the important events during the week.
The Secretary-General stressed the importance of UAE’s support to United Nations-led peace efforts in the region.
The Secretary-General discussed with the leader the situation in the region, including challenges to regional peace and security. He expressed the hope that regional countries will take concrete steps to help de-escalate current tensions, and remain focused on promoting a political solution to the conflicts in Syria and Yemen.
