The Secretary-General met today with Maria Ángela Holguín Cuéllar, Foreign Minister of Colombia, in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Secretary-General urged the Government of Colombia to continue to take positive steps and provide constructive ideas to address the challenges of climate change, in the run-up to the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 21) to be held in Paris next month. He said he was counting on the leadership of President Juan Manuel Santos and on Colombia's continued positive role in this regard.
The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister also discussed the peace process under way in Colombia. The Secretary-General said the United Nations would continue to offer its support to the ongoing peace efforts.
