The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development of France, on the margins of the Third United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.
The Secretary-General and Foreign Minister, who is also the incoming President of the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21), exchanged views on progress towards the climate change summit in Paris this December. The Secretary-General expressed his hope that France will continue displaying its leadership in building political momentum towards a meaningful, universal agreement.
They also discussed the situation in Syria, including the upcoming donor conference in Kuwait, and Ukraine, as well as countering extremism and promoting tolerance.
