Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Ms. Dalia Grybauskaite, President of Lithuania

The Secretary-General met today in Santiago with H.E. Ms. Dalia Grybauskaite, President of Lithuania, in the margins of the High-level event on Women in Power and Decision-Making hosted by the Government of Chile in cooperation with UN Women.

They discussed the situation in Ukraine and the response of the international community.  

The Secretary-General also stressed the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals Summit to be held at UN Headquarters in New York in September, and urged President Grybauskaite to attend. 

They further discussed Lithuania’s work on its Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) for climate change, within the European Union process, including the development of renewable energy sources, with an aim to reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels.
