The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Ali Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia, on the margins of the United Nations Climate Change Conference.
The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s efforts to diversify its economy and address climate change. He also appreciated the constructive role that Saudi Arabia is playing in the international pursuit of a meaningful, universal agreement.
He noted that Saudi Arabia has played an important leadership role in multi-stakeholder action commitments made at September’s Climate Summit, especially in the oil and gas sector.
