The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Edi Rama, Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania.
They discussed the priorities of the new Government of Albania. The Secretary-General encouraged the Government to continue the fight against corruption and to advance reforms in matters of justice and the rule of law.
The Secretary-General commended the appointment of a number of female ministers in the new Government, noting that he hoped the trend would continue.
The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation to Albania for its strong ownership of the United Nations reform at country level and its promotion of the “Delivering as One community” as well as for its active participation in the post-2015 development agenda.
They also exchanged views on developments in the Western Balkans region.
