Readout of Secretary-General's meeting with H.E. President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil

The Secretary-General met with President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil.  The Secretary-General thanked Brazil for its steadfast support for UN priorities.  The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for Brazil’s important contributions to the follow-up of Rio+20 - United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development.  Brazil’s unwavering support for Haiti and the outstanding work of Brazilian troops deployed to the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) were praised.  The issue of the reported large-scale surveillance programmes was also discussed. The Secretary-General and the President also discussed regional developments in the Middle East as well as the situation in Syria.
