The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, on the margins of the General Assembly. They exchanged views on efforts to enhance collaboration and joint operations between their two organizations. The Secretary-General thanked Dr. Dlamini-Zuma for the African Union’s continued support to the work of the United Nations, in particular, to the offices based in Addis Ababa.
The two also discussed issues of common interest including recent developments in a number of countries such as the Central African Republic (CAR), the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali, Somalia, Guinea-Bissau, and Sudan/South Sudan, as well as the situation in Western Sahara.
