The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for China’s active leadership role in the United Nations and its contributions to the Organization. In particular, he thanked China for its support to United Nations peacekeeping and its contribution to formulating the post-2015 development agenda, addressing climate change and achieving sustainable development.
The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister discussed the crisis in Syria, the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, and the situation in Afghanistan. They also exchanged views on multilateral cooperation in Northeast Asia.
