The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Yun Byung-se, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
The Secretary-General expressed his deep appreciation of the active role and participation by the Republic of Korea (ROK) in many areas of the work of the United Nations, including as a member of the Security Council. He thanked the ROK for its contributions to UN peacekeeping operations, conflict prevention and peacebuilding, as well as its leadership on sustainable development, green growth, climate change, human rights and gender equality.
The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister exchanged views on a variety of global and regional issues including the inter-Korean relations and the situations in Syria, Egypt, the Middle East and Africa.
