The Secretary-General met with H. E. Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Pakistan, today. They discussed cooperation between the United Nations and Pakistan on matters ranging from floods response and disaster risk reduction, to Pakistan’s contribution to UN Peacekeeping operations. The Secretary-General also raised the topics of Pakistan’s security challenges, human rights and gender equality, as well as the situation in Afghanistan.

The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for the contributions that President Zardari made during his Presidency and for the close cooperation between Pakistan and the United Nations.
