The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Ghulam Nabi Azad, Minister of Health and Family Welfare of India.
 
The Secretary-General commended India’s progress on health, noting that more than one year has passed since India has seen a case of polio.
 
He noted the importance of additional efforts to improve women's and children's health, and commended India's commitment to the Global Strategy on Women's and Children's Health and its innovative programs in this area.
 
The Secretary-General also took note of India’s continued efforts towards achieving universal health coverage.
