Readout of the Secretary-General's meetings on the margins of the London Conference on Somalia

The Secretary-General had a range of bilateral meetings today on the margins of the London Conference on Somalia.

 He met separately with the President of the Seychelles, the Prime Minister of Mauritius and the Foreign Ministers of France, Spain and Saudi Arabia.

 In each meeting, the Secretary-General discussed Somalia and the role of the international community.

 With the President of the Republic of the Seychelles, H.E. Mr. James Michel, the Secretary-General discussed the country's contribution to the fight against piracy.

 In his meeting with the Prime Minister of Mauritius, H.E. Mr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, the Secretary-General discussed the battle against piracy in the Indian Ocean and the Global Forum on Migration.

 The focus of the meeting with H.E. Mr. Alain Juppe, the Foreign Minister of France, was on Syria.

 With H.E. Mr. José Manuel García-Margallo, the Foreign Minister of Spain, the Secretary-General discussed Syria, the Alliance of Civilisations and the UN logistics support centre in Valencia.

  The Secretary-General discussed Syria and Iraq with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, H.R.H Prince Saud Al-Faisal.
