Note to Correspondents on Libya

In response to questions on Libya, the Spokesman for the Secretary-General had the following to say:

The Secretary-General continues to follow developments in Libya closely. Just this Tuesday, he discussed his concerns about the political and security situation in great detail with his Special Representative, Mr. Martin Kobler, during a telephone conversation.

Mr. Kobler also briefed the Secretary-General on his work with the parties to encourage the full implementation of the Libyan Political Agreement, and specifically the Presidency Council’s efforts to form a new Government and the responsibility of the House of Representatives to endorse it.

The Secretary-General commended Mr. Kobler and the staff of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) for their tireless efforts in support of peace and stability in Libya. He also reiterated his strong and full support to Mr. Kobler.
