Note to correspondents in response to questions on the use of medical facilities and vehicles in the violence in Syria

We are extremely concerned by reports of the use of medical facilities and vehicles to carry out violence related to the conflict.

Medical facilities, equipment and personnel must not be targeted or used for military purposes.

All parties involved in the conflict must respect international humanitarian law and ensure that civilians are not targeted.

All humanitarians work on the basis of strict impartiality and neutrality. Their only aim is to save lives and protect the vulnerable. These principles must be respected.
