Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General on talks between Afghan Government and Taliban representatives

The Secretary-General welcomes the direct talks held yesterday between Afghan Government and Taliban representatives in Pakistan. He reiterates his support for an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.  He expresses his appreciation for the commitment of the parties and the constructive role of the host, Pakistan.
