Statement attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General on the death of the President of Bangladesh

The Secretary-General was saddened by the death of Mr. Zillur Rahman, President of Bangladesh since 2009, who made important contributions to the country's democratic transition throughout his political life.  The Secretary-General extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the President, the Government and people of Bangladesh.
