Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General
on the agreement reached in Damascus by Terje Roed-Larsen

The Secretary-General welcomes the agreement reached in Damascus yesterday between his Special Envoy, Terje Roed-Larsen, and the Government of Syria regarding the full and complete withdrawal by 30 April 2005 of Syrian troops, military assets and intelligence apparatus, consistent with the requirements of Security Council resolution 1559 (2004).
