Statement by the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General
On the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty

The Secretary-General in his capacity as Depositary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty welcomes the ratification of the Comprehensive-Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty by the Government of Colombia on 29 January 2008. Colombia is one of the 44 States listed in Annex 2 of the Treaty, the ratification of which is essential for the entry into force of the Treaty.

This brings the number of ratifications of the Treaty to 144, including 35 ratifications of the Annex 2 States.
