Statement attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General on bombing in Algiers

Statements | Spokesperson for the Secretary-General

The Secretary-General condemns in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attacks in Algiers earlier today. The two blasts reportedly killed at least 45 people, including a number of United Nations staff members.

The blasts destroyed the offices of the UN Development Programme and severely damaged the offices of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

The United Nations is currently working closely with local authorities to account for UN personnel who may be missing.
