Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Ms Beata Szydlo, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Ms. Beata Szydlo, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland. The Secretary-General thanked Poland for its support for the Paris Agreement and stressed the importance of translating the Agreement into action to prevent climate change.

The Secretary-General also expressed hope for a swift ratification of the Doha Amendment establishing the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol.

The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister discussed issues pertaining to peace and security in Europe, including the prevention of violent extremism.
