Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, President of Bulgaria

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, the President of Bulgaria.

The Secretary-General stressed the importance of national ownership for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Secretary-General and the President exchanged views on the challenges of increased movement of migrants and refugees and expressed hope for strong, proactive European leadership to address the crisis.  Also noted was the need for greater commitment by all toward preventive efforts.
