Readouts | Ban Ki-moon, Former Secretary-General

The Secretary-General met today with the Head of the Transition of the Central African Republic, H.E. Ms. Catherine Samba-Panza.

They agreed on the imperative need to respect the end of the transition by 31 December and to organise inclusive and credible elections beforehand, in line with the provisions of the Transitional Charter, including regarding the ineligibility of the members of transitional institutions.

The Secretary-General discussed the high-level event he will be co-chairing with Ms. Samba-Panza on 1 October in the margins of the General Assembly.  The aim of this event is to provide a platform to national and international stakeholders to garner financial, technical and political support for the implementation of the most critical priority outcomes of the Bangui Forum for the next 12-18 months.

The Secretary-General reiterated his firm determination to implement the United Nations’ zero-tolerance policy on sexual exploitation and abuse.
