Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. The Secretary-General and President Obiang discussed the peace and security challenges in the region, including the Ebola outbreak and terrorism. The Secretary-General and President Obiang also exchanged views on the border dispute between Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. 

The Secretary-General thanked Equatorial Guinea for hosting the ministerial meeting of the United Nations Standing Advisory Committee on Security Questions in Central Africa (UNSAC) in Malabo last July, and commended Equatorial Guinea for the successful holding of the African Union Summit in Malabo last June.
