Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with AU Commission Chairperson Jean Ping

The Secretary-General welcomed the cooperation between the African Union and the United Nations, in particular on peace and security issues in Sudan, Somalia and Cote d'Ivoire. For the coming year, he looks forward to working even more closely with the AU, the Chairperson and the Commissioners on matters such as sustainable development, women empowerment, fighting sexual violence in conflict, security sector reforms, conflict prevention and mediation.
