Readout of the Secretary-General's telephone call with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan

The Secretary-General spoke by telephone today with President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria. The President briefed the Secretary-General on the recent Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) mission to Cote d'Ivoire by the Presidents of Benin, Cape Verde and Sierra Leone which was undertaken within the terms of the ECOWAS communique. The Secretary-General and the Nigerian President agreed to stay in close contact in the coming days, including on the outcome of the next ECOWAS visit of the three Presidents on January 3rd.
