Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with the President of Mongolia

The Secretary-General met today, on the margins of the Fourth Forum of the Un Alliance of Civilizations, with Elbegdorj Tsakhia, President of Mongolia. They discussed issues to which Mongolia attached great importance, notably promoting democracy during the country's chairmanship of the Community of Democracies. The Secretary-General reiterated the importance of sustainable development for the United Nations agenda, and particularly access to energy, and invited the President to attend the Rio+20 conference next year. They also discussed Mongolia's contribution to UN peacekeeping operations.
