Announcement

The Security Council will hold an open debate on Thursday, 9 December 2021, at 10:00 a.m., in connection with “Security in the context of terrorism and climate change” under the agenda item “Maintenance of international peace and security” (S/2021/988).

Member States wishing to participate in-person and inscribe their names on the list of speakers should send a letter addressed to the President of the Security Council requesting to participate in accordance with Rule 37 of the Council’s Provisional Rules of Procedure (email: dppa-scsb3@un.org), starting on Monday, 6 December 2021, at 9:30 a.m. Please note that only scanned copies of signed letters will be accepted by email.

The list of speakers will be determined by the order in which requests are received. Delegations are kindly requested to limit their statements to no more than four minutes. Delegations are reminded that the list of speakers will not be available by telephone or email, but only in hard copy in the Chamber, shortly before the beginning of the meeting.

Delegations are kindly requested to limit their participation to one representative in the Chamber.

Delegations wishing to submit written statements instead of participating in the meeting may submit written statements through the eSpeakers module of e-deleGATE+. Member States wishing to do so should transmit their statements in Microsoft Word format with a cover letter duly signed by the Permanent Representative/Chargé d’affaires and addressed to the President of the Security Council no later than the date of the meeting, Thursday, 9 December 2021. These statements will be published as part of an official compilation document containing the interventions submitted in connection with this open debate. Please note that delegations speaking in-person do not need to submit a written statement via e-deleGATE+, as the delivered statement will be included in the official record of the meeting.

Delegates are invited to contact their Mission’s access focal points to be granted access to the eSpeakers module on the e-deleGATE+ platform. Delegates can submit written statements by clicking on the eSpeakers sub-item in the Security Council menu item.
