CTED Executive Director meets Australian Counter-Terrorism Ambassador

 

Following a meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF) in New York on 22 September 2014, CTED Executive Director Mr. Jean-Paul Laborde met with H.E. Miles Armitage, Australian Ambassador for Counter-Terrorism and Assistant Secretary for the Counter-Terrorism Branch.

Ambassador Armitage and Executive Director Laborde discussed a number of pressing issues pertaining to terrorism, including foreign terrorist fighters and the recent raid by Australian law enforcement officials against suspected terrorists in Australia. Discussions also covered the importance of countering violent extremism, deradicalization, and upcoming Security Council negotiations on a new resolution on foreign terrorist fighters. Ambassador Armitage and Executive Director Laborde agreed to continue the excellent cooperation already established between the Australian Government and CTED.
