The Department of Peace Operations, the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and UN Women in partnership with New York City’s iconic Photoville festival

invite you to the multimedia exhibition titled “In Their Hands: Women Taking Ownership of Peace” that will be on display at the United Nations Headquarters, New York 18-29 October.

  • At the Delegate Entrance: 18-22 October
  • At the UN Plaza (visitor’s entrance): 25-29 October

The exhibition profiles 14 women from Africa, the Middle East and South America who have mediated with armed groups, participated in peace talks, advanced political solutions and advocated for women’s rights, and the women photographers who captured their stories.  Women play a central role in their communities, and ensuring their full, equal and meaningful participation in peace and political processes is vital, which is also a central focus of the Women, Peace and Security agenda.

This exhibition is part of the Photoville festival and will remain on display to the public at the Photoville festival until 1 December at the Pier 1, Brooklyn Bridge Park, New York.

You may also view the full exhibition on the UN Exhibits website.
