New Permanent Representative of Tunisia Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Tunisia to the United Nations, Kais Kabtani, presented his credentials to the Secretariat today.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Kabtani had served as his country’s Permanent Representative to the African Union and non-resident Ambassador to Djibouti, Madagascar and Syechelles since 2018.

From 2016 to 2018, he was Director of the United Nations and International Conferences in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after leading the Ministry’s multilateral cooperation as Director from 2015 to 2016 and serving as Inspector Director in 2015.

Mr. Kabtani served as Deputy Head of the Mission in the Tunisian Embassy in Madrid from 2012 to 2015 and Consul of Tunisia in the Spanish capital from 2010 to 2012.  He also advised the Cabinet of the Foreign Minister on multilateral issues from 2008 to 2010, after being the Deputy Director in the General Directorate of International Organizations from 2007 to 2008.

He holds master’s degrees in legal sciences from Faculté des Sciences Juridiques Politiques et Sociales Tunis II and in diplomacy from the Mediterranean Academy for Diplomatic Studies in Malta.

Born in 1971, Mr. Kabtani is married and has two children.
