Activities of Secretary-General in Portugal, 29 May

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres was in Lisbon, Portugal, on 29 May, where he had been invited by Portuguese President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, to address the State Council.

The State Council is chaired by the President and its membership comprises the highest officials in the country — President of Parliament, President of the Constitutional Court, Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs, former Presidents, Presidents of Administrative regions, representatives of the main political parties and others.

The Secretary-General’s address focused on the current international situation.
