Secretary-General Sends Condolences to Families of Cuba Plane Accident Victims

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General António Guterres:

The Secretary-General learned with great sadness of the tragic plane accident on 18 May in Havana, Cuba.

The Secretary-General conveys his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and Government of Cuba at this difficult moment of national mourning.

In Haiti, the UN and its humanitarian partners continue to reach hundreds of thousands of people with critical assistance. The World Food Programme (WFP) reports that more than 18,000 people were reached with cash transfers and, again yesterday, 210,000 children received a meal in their schools across the country.
