Secretary-General Condemns Terrorist Attacks in Southern Iraq

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General António Guterres:

The Secretary-General condemns the terrorist attacks on 14 September in Thi Qar province in southern Iraq.  He expresses his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Iraq.

The Secretary-General hopes that the perpetrators of these crimes will be swiftly brought to justice.  He reiterates the support of the United Nations to the Government and people of Iraq in their efforts to fight terrorism and violent extremism.
