Activities of Secretary-General in United Arab Emirates, 25 November

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Abu Dhabi on a flight from New York around midday on Friday, 25 November.

He first had a working lunch with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, and other senior officials.  They discussed the Sustainable Development Goals, climate change and regional developments, including in Syria, Yemen, Libya, Lebanon and Iraq.

The Secretary-General then delivered an address to young diplomats from the Emirates Diplomatic Academy and answered their questions.  (See Press Release SG/SM/18299.)

The Secretary-General then travelled by road to Dubai, where he met with Saeed Mohammad al Tayer, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and also Chairman of the Board of Governors of the recently launched World Green Economy Organization.

The Secretary-General left Dubai the same evening on a flight for Ashgabat.
