Condemning Attack on Hotel in Tripoli, Secretary-General Says ‘Terrorism Has No Place in the New Libya’

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

The Secretary-General condemns in the strongest terms the attack that took place at the Corinthia Hotel, in Tripoli on 27 January.  He expresses his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives as a result of this despicable act.  Terrorism has no place in the new Libya and will not undermine the ongoing political dialogue, which the United Nations is facilitating.  In this regard, the Secretary-General commends the courage of the Libyan actors who are participating in the dialogue to find a peaceful and negotiated solution to the crisis.
