Security Council Press Statement on Killing of ICRC Staff Member in Ukraine

The following Security Council press statement was issued today by Council President María Cristina Perceval (Argentina):

The members of the Security Council strongly condemned the killing of a staff member of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Laurent DuPasquier, in Donetsk, Ukraine, on 2 October 2014 as a result of a shell landing near the ICRC premises.

The members of the Security Council expressed their deep sympathy and condolences to the family of Mr. DuPasquier, as well as to the ICRC and the people and Government of Switzerland.

The members of the Security Council stressed the need to conduct an objective and thorough investigation into this tragic death.
