Pays Tribute to His Contributions to Democratic Transition

 

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

The Secretary-General was saddened by the death of Zillur Rahman, President of Bangladesh since 2009, who made important contributions to the country's democratic transition throughout his political life.  The Secretary-General extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the President, the Government and people of Bangladesh.
