Secretary-General Appoints Joan Elise Dubinsky

 

of United States Director of Ethics Office

 


United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced the appointment of Joan Elise Dubinsky, a national of the United States, as Director of the Ethics Office.


She succeeds Robert Benson of Canada, to whom the Secretary-General is grateful for his dedicated service to the Organization and his experience and advice on ethics matters.


Ms. Dubinsky brings to the position extensive experience in the field of organizational ethics and compliance, in the private and non-profit sectors, as well as with international institutions.  Prior to joining the United Nations, she served as Director of Ethics with BAE Systems, Inc. since 2009.  Before that she was Chief Ethics Officer with the International Monetary Fund from October 2004 to June 2009.


Spanning many years, her service in the private sector included leading the Rosentreter Group, a management consultancy specializing in ethics, compliance and organizational development.


Born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1953, Ms. Dubinsky completed her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree at the University of Texas.  She is married.
