Fifty-eighth General Assembly

Fourth Committee

22nd Meeting (PM)

FOURTH COMMITTEE, DEFERRING ACTION ON TEXTS, TO CONCLUDE SESSION TOMORROW

The Fourth Committee (Special Political and Decolonization) met briefly this afternoon, deciding to defer action on the remaining items on its agenda for the current session, namely, a series of draft resolutions on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and the report of the Special Committee on Israeli practices in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The decision to delay action on the draft resolutions followed a request by the representative of Italy, on behalf of the European Union, to give delegations additional time to reach agreement on the texts before the Committee.

The Committee will meet again tomorrow, 14 November, at 10 a.m. to conclude its work for the session.
