SECRETARY-GENERAL CONDEMNS TERRORISM AFTER MURDER OF SPANISH JUDGE

20001030

Following is the text of a statement issued today by the Office of the Spokesman of Secretary-General Kofi Annan:

The Secretary-General was deeply shocked to learn this morning of the cold- blooded murder of Supreme Court Judge José Francisco Querol Lombardo, his driver and bodyguard. He mourns with the Spanish people and sends his sincere condolences to the families of those killed so brutally.

The Secretary-General categorically condemns terrorism and political violence from whatever quarter. He would like to stress, once again, that only by peaceful means can we truly resolve grievances.
