The President of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E. Sam Kutesa, condemns in the strongest terms the heinous terrorist attack on the Jazeera Palace Hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia, that took place on 26 July, and which caused several deaths and injuries, including to members of staff of diplomatic missions which were based in the hotel.

The President of the General Assembly conveys his condolences to the families of the victims and wishes those injured a quick recovery. He also extends his sympathies to the government and people of Somalia, as well as to those countries that lost citizens in this brutal attack.

President Kutesa reiterates that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations is criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of its motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever commits it.

The President calls on the international community to redouble its efforts to combat the scourge of terrorism and to support the efforts of the Government of Somalia to bring the perpetrators to justice.
