Ambassador Arthur KAFEERO

H.E. Mr. Arthur Kafeero, began his public service career as an Economist in the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development in 1990. From 1991 to 1996, Mr. Kafeero, worked as Economist in the Division for Regional Cooperation and Integration in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which he later headed from 1993 to 1996. From 1997 to 2003 he served as a First Secretary at the Uganda High Commission in London and Representative to the International Coffee Organization (ICO). Between 2004 and 2007, he was a Special Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Between 2008 and 2009, Mr. Kafeero was a Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Uganda to the United Nations in New York and representative to the Second Committee. From 2009 to 2010, he was a Minister Counsellor and Political Coordinator during Uganda’s tenure on the Security Council. He was the Charge d’ Affaires at the Permanent Mission of Uganda to the United Nations in New York from 2012 to 2013. Immediately prior to assuming his current duties in 2014, Ambassador Kafeero was the Head of the Department of Multilateral and Treaties Organization in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his career, he has represented Uganda at different multilateral and regional fora including the United Nations (UN), Commonwealth, Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), the African Union (AU), East African Community (EAC), Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR). He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics (University of Dar-es-salaam), a Masters in Diplomatic Studies (University of Westminster) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration and Management (Uganda Management Institute). H.E. Mr. Kafeero is a national of Uganda.
