Senior Adviser, Third Committee

Dr. Melita Gabric is a Slovene diplomat who has been working in multilateral and bilateral affairs, most recently focusing on human rights issues in the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dr. Gabric was the Consul General of Slovenia in New York from 2009 to 2012. Prior to that she served as Secretary-General of the Bled Strategic Forum, the leading annual international conference organized by the Slovenian Foreign Ministry. From 2007-2008, she was the Senior Advisor to the President of the 62nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, in charge of human rights and interfaith dialogue. Dr. Gabric served a five-year term as foreign affairs advisor to the President of the Republic of Slovenia, and four years as foreign affairs advisor to the Slovene Prime Minister. She is the author of op-ed pieces and has conducted public presentations and forums on topics ranging from the issue of UN reform to regional security, human rights and public diplomacy. Dr. Gabric holds a Ph.D. in international relations, and is specialized in mediation in international conflicts. She is a national of Slovenia.
