\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

GENERAL ASSEMBLY<\/strong><\/p>\n

Starting with the General Assembly this afternoon\u2026<\/p>\n

At 3PM, Member States are expected to take action on a draft resolution related the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia. This is under agenda item 58, peacebuilding and sustaining peace.<\/p>\n

Member States will then resume explanations of vote after the vote on draft resolutions related to item 127, cooperation between the United Nations and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.<\/p>\n

That will be followed by action on draft resolutions related to global health and foreign policy.<\/p>\n

That will include modalities for the high-level meeting on Tuberculosis, which will take place during UNGA High level week this September.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

BILATERALS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Turning to bilaterals\u2026<\/p>\n

President Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si today met with Mr. Urmas Reinsalu, the Foreign Minister of Estonia.<\/p>\n

The war in Ukraine and the Emergency Special Session were the main topics discussed.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, President Korosi met with Mr. Dmytro Kuleba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

He also met with Mr. Antonio Tajani, that Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

Those meetings were held in the context of the Emergency Special Session.<\/p>\n

Today, the President will also meet with A.K. Abul Momen, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.<\/p>\n

Topics are expected to include the South South Cooperation Ministerial Forum and financing for the SDGs.<\/p>\n

Later today, the President will meet with Ambassador Jamal F Alrowaiei, the Permanent Representative of Bahrain.<\/p>\n

He will also speak with Mr. Costantinos Maglaras, the Dean of Columbia Business School.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

WEEK AHEAD<\/strong><\/p>\n

Looking ahead to the first few days of next week..<\/p>\n

You know that President K\u0151r\u00f6si is in Geneva next week.<\/p>\n

On Monday, 27 February, he will open the 52nd<\/sup> session of the Human Rights Council\u2026 speaking alongside the President of the Council V\u00e1clav B\u00e1lek, Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, and the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker T\u00fcrk.<\/p>\n

During his address, President K\u0151r\u00f6si is expected to urge Member States to renew their commitments to the promotion and protection of human rights as a step in managing interlinked and complex crises.<\/p>\n

He will also have a briefing to Member States and heads of Geneva-based International Organizations.<\/p>\n

As well as a townhall with civil society organizations in Geneva.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, President K\u0151r\u00f6si will speak to the press at the Palais at 3:15PM CET on the UN Water Conference and other issues.<\/p>\n

The President will have a schedule packed with bilaterals.<\/p>\n

In the evening, he will speak on \u201cCrisis management and transformation for the UN we need\u201d at an event hosted by the Geneva Diplomatic Club, Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva and the Forum Suisse de Politique Internacionale.<\/p>\n
