NOON BRIEFING HIGHLIGHTS <\/strong><\/p>\n

Tuesday, 13 September 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

GENERAL ASSEMBLY<\/strong><\/p>\n

Starting with the General Assembly.<\/p>\n

In the 3pm session will be the first plenary of the 77th<\/sup> session.<\/p>\n

The plenary will start with an opening by the President of the General Assembly, Csaba K\u0151r\u00f6si.<\/em><\/p>\n

That will be followed by a minute of silent prayer or meditation.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s afternoon session will include the appointment of members of the Credentials Committee.<\/p>\n

In his opening remarks this afternoon, President K\u0151r\u00f6si will discuss his presidency, using the motto \u201cSolutions through solidarity, sustainability and science\u201d.<\/p>\n

He will say that the mission of the international community is to <\/em>come together when there are disagreements and to build bridges when there are deep divides.<\/p>\n

And that the General Assembly Hall is a place to build trust \u2013 to bring about peace and security, development and human rights.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

PRAYER BREAKFAST<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This morning, President K\u0151r\u00f6si spoke to the 37th<\/sup> International Prayer Breakfast.<\/p>\n

As you know, this is part of an annual tradition at the start of a General Assembly session.<\/p>\n

President K\u0151r\u00f6si said the event offers a moment to reflect on where are as a global society.<\/p>\n

Outlining some of the key global challenges, he said they should be met with a \u201cunited resolve\u201d<\/p>\n

Around the values that are shared to people of faith, as well as those in the secular culture.<\/p>\n

QUEEN MEMORIAL<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Turning to this Thursday, 15 September.<\/p>\n

There will be a plenary meeting to pay tribute to the memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.<\/p>\n

It will be held in the GA Hall on Thursday at 10AM.<\/p>\n
