I commend the States Parties of the ICC on their efforts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">We all want to see a successful ICC that\u00a0<b>sets<\/b>, and then\u00a0<b>protects<\/b>, the highest legal and professional standards.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">A Court that is\u00a0<b>a paragon<\/b>\u00a0of governance and institutional culture.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">A Court that holds those guilty of the gravest crimes accountable and serves both as\u00a0<b>a deterrent<\/b>\u00a0and as\u00a0<b>a model<\/b>\u00a0for domestic criminal law systems.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">I call on all of you to support the ICC\u2019s important mission and to achieve the ultimate goal: the\u00a0<b>universal<\/b>\u00a0ratification of the Rome Statue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">I look forward to a meaningful debate today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">A debate that will continue to strengthen the relations between the United Nations and the Court and contribute to\u00a0<b>ending impunity<\/b>\u00a0once and for all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">I thank you.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"p1\">[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>31 October 2022 &nbsp; \u201cThe hope of impunity is the greatest inducement\u00a0to do wrong.\u201d Ladies and Gentlemen, it was said by the Roman statesman Marcus Tullius Cicero\u00a021 centuries ago.
